The Talent Tree- some musing by R.Magnus, copyright 2014.

 The Talent Tree
A gift is a plant that with nurture will grow. Let your seedling grow in its natural direction. Gardener, you will be under pressure to bend that young sapling in a crowd pleasing direction, or to push your plant towards a laboured life of producing fruit for gold. Gardener, you will be cold-pressed to continue growing that plant in the direction that seems to yield the most...success... status...attention... money... power... love... so the plant and the gardener become trapped. Gardener, your tree wants to become one with you.... and you with your plant, letting it decide its shape, size, colour and true form. Resisting temptations to grow toward apparent greatness- this tree, blossoming and expanding in the creative nature of a gift will take on its most authentic forms. Not forced to become the most expected tree in the forest, it could never be described as a bonsai. Given time to relax and not bear fruit from time to time, to appear as if it lies on fallow ground. Not being thrashed every season and stripped bare every time it fruits. A plant that becomes one with its gardener is allowed to change form as often as it must. It may appear almost dead if required. A gift that is loved, single–eyed by a doting gardener is a precious plant that will one day resemble the promises contained in its seed. A tree that is not overly manicured will develop a steadfast trunk.  A plant that refuses surplus gardeners will thrive. Such a tree does not compete. It does not need to, and this makes it free. Be that tree...... if you want to be.
